DANISH DESIGN SINCE 1933

Skovby’s story began in 1933 in a small rural village in Denmark. 

Back then a young talented and ambitious cabinetmaker began a small furniture production in his mother’s home in Skovby. His name was Thorvald Rasmussen – and this was the beginning of what eventually became Skovby Møbelfabrik.
 

For Thorvald – and later his son Villy – there were many obstacles but also many victories along the way, and slowly but surely the company grew. Skovby was among the first to design functional tables with extension systems and is to this very day well-known for the strong ability to combine powerful aesthetic designs with innovative functions.

Skovby is based on functionality and traditional craftsmanship. The result is flexible and timeless designs with subtle, innovative details - fit for everyday life.

Today, Skovby is owned and run by third-generation and grandsons Preben and Jørgen Rasmussen, and Skovby furniture is still designed and produced locally – in the heart of Denmark – in Skovby, where it all began.
